Complutense University - Carlos III Health Institute Joint Centre for Research into Human Evolution and Behavior

This Centre, headed by Prof. Juan Luis Arsuaga, was set up under a MoU between the Complutense University of Madrid and the Carlos III Health Institute.

Work at the Centre is grouped around several research and technology areas: Human Evolution Area, Ancient DNA Area, Cognitive Neuroscience Area and Medical Anthropology Area. At the Centre, restoration and preservation work is done on fossil material unearthed at the many sites where its members work, including Sima de los Huesos in the Sierra de Atapuerca.
