The "Memory of Atapuerca" consists of a conscious effort by the Atapuerca Research Team to safeguard, preserve and disseminate the history and identity of the Project. This living system, evolving constantly for more than 45 years, allows us to be objectively aware of where we come from, how the project began and what milestones and challenges have marked its path.
The "Memory of Atapuerca", housed in the Emiliano Aguirre Research Centre, began in 2019 with the cataloguing and study of the Emiliano Aguirre Documentary Fund (FDEA), owned by the Fundación Paleontológica Emiliano Aguirre. This collection includes a wide range of materials, such as manuscripts, notes, books, drawings, magazines, offprints and a collection of fossils and objects related to Emiliano Aguirre's professional life. This initiative is supported by the Fundación Círculo Burgos and Fundación Ibercaja.
